Transition

Our society is undergoing a big change now as I write. It is not just the women of this nation but Society as a whole, I would say, is going for a big transition because women want to get empowered but they actually don’t know what they want. Just the word “empowerment” will not do wonders. It will need detailing, an actual definition, an actual meaning.  The words, “Empowerment”, “Equality” etc. used by some elite politicians, socialites, feminist leaders etc. does not make any difference other than just making their interviews on media very sophisticated. They need to dig deeper.

The men are confused because they don’t know what role to play in this whole transition exercise – just listen to what women is saying or behave the way they have been behaving for ages – totally masculine. First the balance needs to be reached among our own genders. Men need to understand themselves first and then make a balance in the society at large, same goes for women. A deeper introspection, perception and then execution is required to reach a balance. And surely, it will take time.

The present scenario of transition predominately is occurring because of various factors and reasons. So I just explored the picture of this present transitional scenario and tried to come out with some reasons or factors of what is happening in our society right now and I could think of few things:

1.              The women, not only in India, all around the world have been dominated by the men, probably since the birth of the mankind. And they want to come out of it and just want a change from regular. Some of the developed countries have been able to do that but I would not comment on the success of the societies of those countries. That itself is a big issue to be discussed.

2.         So to just further continue on the first reason, the women of the developing countries or say India are looking up at the women of those other countries where women actually have equal rights. They are trying to imitate their counterparts from those developed countries.

3.         The third reason would be the explosion of consumerism. The opening up of economy. The making of Indian women as the decision maker of the houses to induce consumerism. Creation of artificial power by creating a big consumer market of women by corporate to beautify their profit & loss accounts.

Because of above said reasons and various others, the society is going for a big change. And this transition period will definitely have collateral damages. And these collateral damages will continue until we are through with the transition and become a well balanced society. But never forget, the bigger question here will be – are those balanced societies really successful? Are they really happy? Have they really reached that balance or they are looking for something more? And the biggest question will remain, which I always ask – (its not just for women) are we really chasing an illusion? The illusion created by some? Coz what I always say is “Someone’s reality is other’s illusion or that reality itself is an illusion; of course the life is an illusion.”
